America West Airline Portal
Week 1: Dec 23-30, 2002
The Systems Operations Control Center (SOCC) department at America West, the Phoenix-based airline, receives all of the information necessary to keep airplanes flying, from flight status information and airport weather conditions to maintenance activity, flight plans and crew management data. Having all this information easily accessible is critical to increased operating efficiency.

The following diagram shows the portal solution implemented at America West. The data from legacy systems is first converted into XML that is then passed as input to the portal. Currently, the XML data is uploaded to a FTP server, but eventually real-time XML data-feed will happen. The XML data is transformed to the HTML format using XSLT.
